Can I get a Marketplace subsidy if my employer offers health insurance?
Navigating the ACA employer affordability test for marketplace subsidies.
Generally, you will not qualify for a marketplace premium tax credit if you have access to affordable, job-based health coverage. You only qualify for a subsidy if your employer’s insurance is deemed "unaffordable" or fails to meet "minimum value" standards by ACA guidelines.
If the employee-only premium for the lowest-cost plan offered by your employer exceeds the federally mandated percentage of your household income, you may be eligible for a subsidy on the Marketplace.
