How does Supplemental Insurance work?

Think of Supplemental Insurance as "Financial First Aid." It’s designed to catch the costs that your standard health insurance leaves behind.

  • Not a Replacement: Supplemental plans (like Accident, Critical Illness, or Hospital Indemnity) are not health insurance. You should have a primary health plan to be fully protected.

  • Cash in Your Pocket: Unlike health insurance, which pays the doctor or hospital, supplemental insurance pays cash directly to you.

  • The "Recovery" Gap: Use the cash for anything you need—meeting your health insurance deductible, paying your mortgage while you’re out of work, or covering travel to a specialist.

  • The Fine Print: These plans may have specific exclusions and "waiting periods" (e.g., a plan might not pay out for a condition diagnosed in the first 30 days).

We offer Supplemental plans through UnitedHealthcare | Golden Rule Insurance Company that pay fixed amounts for covered events.

  • AccidentWise
  • HospitalWise
  • Critical Illness
