How Current Is the Plan Data in BenZen's Recommendation Engine?

Our plan database is built from CMS public use files — the official data carriers submit to the federal government each year during the plan certification process. It's the same data source that powers our agent copilot recommendation engine.

When is it updated?
CMS publishes plan data for the upcoming plan year in the spring — typically April through June. We update our database from those files. The data you receive reflects certified plan information for the current plan year.

What does that mean for your recommendation?
The plan benefits, cost sharing, disease management programs, and formulary URLs in your recommendation reflect what the carrier submitted to CMS as of the certification date. Carriers are required to honor these details for the plan year.

One important caveat:
Plan details can change during the plan year — particularly formulary coverage. A drug that's covered today may move tiers or be removed mid-year. That's why we always include the carrier's formulary link in your recommendation and recommend verifying your specific medications before enrolling.

The bottom line:
Our data comes straight from the source. But insurance is never static — always verify with the carrier before making a final decision.
